Thomasrocks.com started up in late 2004 as a home run
business based in Argyll, Scotland.
Our two boys were first given a Thomas the Tank Engine
Video when the eldest was 2 and a half. He was
instantly captivated by the simple moral stories and
the way they were portrayed by the adventures of the
engines. Thomas the
Tank Engine
soon became a favorite toy and each new episode on
video or Nick Jr became a source of joy for the boys
Soon we started
collecting the wooden range of trains from Learning
Curve (now RC2 / Panasonic).
We also found out how hard it was to keep pace with
our kids wants within a reasonable budget. Some shops
had a good range of Thomas UK stock but high prices,
others had only a small range of stock but often it
seemed not the "one" train the boys wanted. We also
found the USA had a lot of Thomas toys that we did not
get in the UK.
A trip to toysrus on holiday
to York had our first TOMY Tomica
world trains bought and the collection soon grew. One
of the problems we found with the Thomas the Tank
Engine Brand name was that it covered so many ranges
from different manufacturers, and we could find no one
supplier who could get every Thomas Range from My
First Thomas to Lionel.
We
started importing toys for the USA,
initially to keep and later for friends as it was
cheaper to bring in a large quantity. We were let down
by a lot of sellers when we tried to get the boys some
of the rarer toys on e-bay. Finally in August 2004 the
idea for Thomasrocks was born and the Domain name and
website started in late November. By spring we
became official UK Thomas the Tank Engine dealers for
RC2, TOMY, Dekker toys, Rainbow designs, Born to Play,
Ravensburger and Golden Bear.
In
Spring 2005 we expanded the range of Thomas toys we
keep in stock and opened our first shop. Although it
was too small to keep anything more than the main
ranges on display it made a huge difference to us to
get to meet our customers.
In
2006 we opened the new shop which gave us more display
space (which we needed after the toy show in London!).
We have been amazed at the distances people have
travelled just to visit our shop.
Unfortunately in the run up to Christmas 2007 we could
no longer cope with the quantity of online orders and
keep the shop open on a regular basis.
We now
try to keep every range of Thomas the Tank Engine toy
in stock along with a huge range of spares and limited
edition collectors toys. We are still on the lookout
for a larger shop and have been for some time, but one
of the problems is finding time to run the shop over
Christmas.
Thomasrocks is an official Thomas the Tank Engine
Dealer. That means you do not need to worry about
warranties or goods being sold unboxed or of a poorer
quality. We always try and match or better the price
of any Thomas the Tank Engine toy so if you find it
cheaper anywhere else let us know and we will do our
best to get you it even cheaper.
We try to keep up to
date with every Thomas the Tank Engine toy and Game
out there but if there is anything you can't find and
would like us to source please let us know.
